Here AT PIXIE WE ARE
in LOVE with early childhood education!
“Let the child be the scriptwriter, the director, and the actor in [their] own play.” —Magda Gerber
Welcome to Pixie!
Each child's needs are our daily curriculum. Inspired by RIE, we respect every baby as a capable, whole person.
We are an infant/toddler, in-home based, trilingual (English, Spanish, and Portuguese), Early Childhood Education (ECE) daycare service located in Mill Valley, California. We take care of children who range from early infancy through the age of 3.
Pixie Nursery School is independent, privately owned, and fully licensed by the state of California.
We emphasize children playing as the main learning process under our care. Our main goal is to provide an enriching and nurturing environment to both infants and toddlers where each child is free to explore at their own pace, and caregiving moments such as feeding, diapering, and naps are unhurried times of connection. As Magda Gerber taught, we “do less, observe more, and enjoy most,” giving every child the space to grow.
Music, movement & more
Pixie Nursery School believes that childhood is a treasured time unto itself and not just preparation for schooling. In our view, skipping or hurrying developmental phases can undermine a child's health and development. That's why children are invited, never pushed, to join music, movement, sensory play, cooking, reading, and field trips, and are always free to keep playing on their own instead.
